PHOTOGRAPHER MEREL SEVERS
Çiğdem Polat's work borders on dance and physical theatre. She touches themes that are taboo breaking. She has a unique movement quality inspired by sign language, the animalistic nature and the subconscious body. In her performances she shows deeply layered landscapes of her innerworld where she invites the viewer to behold the courage of vulnerability and to embrace the force of raw transparancy. She graduated at the Urban Contemporary Dance department of the Academy of the Arts in Amsterdam. She worked with Jan Fabre in the production Belgian Rules/ Belgium Rules where she explored the honesty of exhaustion. She is currently working with Jakop Ahlbom Company in the production SYZYGY.
